Arrive in the historic capital of Kathmandu. Spend the day settling into your hotel and meeting your trekking guide for a comprehensive briefing. You will receive final gear checks and cultural insights into the remote, high-altitude region you are about to explore, ensuring you are fully prepared for the Forbidden Kingdom.

Today, we take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. From there, we continue our journey to Jomsom, the gateway to the Mustang region. You will begin to feel the shift in landscape as we enter the dramatic, wind-swept terrain of the Kali Gandaki Valley.

Our trekking adventure officially begins as we head toward Kagbeni. This ancient, mud-walled village marks the restricted entry point to Upper Mustang. You will walk along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, surrounded by rugged cliffs, and explore the narrow, winding alleys of this historic Tibetan-style village.

We ascend into the arid, high-altitude desert that defines Upper Mustang. The landscape transforms into a dramatic canvas of red cliffs and unique rock formations. Our walk to Chele offers your first true taste of the isolation and raw beauty that makes this region feel like stepping back in time.

Today’s journey takes us deeper into the heart of the mountains. We will pass by historic sky caves carved into the cliffside—a mysterious hallmark of Mustang’s ancient civilization. We arrive in the peaceful village of Syangboche, where you will experience the quiet, resilient lifestyle of the local high-altitude farmers.

Our trail winds through mountain passes and traditional villages dotted with colorful prayer flags. We reach Ghami, a beautiful village known for its long, iconic Mani wall and its unique, white-washed monastery. The stark contrast of these buildings against the rugged, dusty landscape provides incredible photographic opportunities.

The highlight of our trip: arriving at the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang. As we crest the final pass, the capital of the Forbidden Kingdom reveals itself. You will spend the evening wandering through the historic palace and vibrant monastic complex, marveling at a culture that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

We dedicate this day to exploring the hidden treasures of Lo Manthang. We will visit the ancient Jhampa, Thubchen, and Chode monasteries, which house stunning Buddhist murals. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the local community and learn about the preserved traditions of the Loba people.

We begin our return journey by heading toward the village of Dhakmar. This area is famous for its towering, dramatic red cliffs that glow intensely under the sun. It is one of the most visually stunning segments of the trek, offering a final, breathtaking look at the geology of the Tibetan plateau.

We complete our final day of trekking, making our way back to the bustling hub of Jomsom. Reflect on the incredible journey through the Forbidden Kingdom as you celebrate with your team. Tomorrow, we catch our flight back, carrying the spirit of the Himalayas with us.
